The american artist with hungarian roots, Stephen Zeigfinger is showing a the Artsyem Modern Art Gallery, a recently opened exhibition space in the Millennium Centyer. The form of expression is exciting, Stephen draws his experience from European, Oriental and Hungarian Impressions. The paintings, oils and acrylics, carry strong colors and different texture, thick and subtle, exciting and nonfigurative.
The throbbing chaos forms itself into a particular order, the dreams transformed onto the canvases through the artist are not to be understood, they are to be felt….
Delia Vékony Budapest 2005
"The oils, the substantial and more textural works, build up a world with multiple dimensions. They are structured. There is more movement in them than in the acrylics. The acrylics are free floating. They happen almost by accident, as if the painter let the paint go on its own way in order to show the beauty of the inner world, which is behind the world of appearances and everyday struggles. The pastels, by their smoothness and geometrical figures, lead us to experience a world found within abstract impressions, as if in some sense Steve wanted to understand, to rationally grasp what his impression of a particular experience means.
His message is clear. There is a world we need to seek which exists within us, a world of the divine, found on this earth, which exists within us. This world, which he paints cannot be expressed by language and cannot be thought of, but just felt in all its beauty, love, hate and struggles. It is our inner self, whose voice we should not forget to listen to."
